Our philosophy
Our program
In dialogue with the Slow Movement, our program highlights tactile, craft led, and process driven approaches. Birthing, caregiving, sustaining others, or starting late are understood here as natural cycles that shape the artistic practice, enriching the work with layers both seen and unseen.
Art itself is not bound by the chrononormative scripts of resumes and career ladders, and the gallery is committed to opening space for lifelong practices that follow uncommon paths.
Our vision
Here, slowness is belonging, opening a different temporality where art and life unfold together and meaning gathers weight with presence.
Our name
The Constelling / ðə kɒnˈstɛlɪŋ / n.
A neologism derived from the Latin constellare (to set with stars) and a vanished English verb to constell* (to unite or combine under the same constellation).
It revives that ancient lineage, adding vocabulary to the idea of gathering light.
The Constelling is in spirit, closer to an observatory or listening chamber than to a white cube, a space where art is not arranged but attuned ; where connections are sensed before they are named.
*The verb to constell is recorded in early seventeenth century English, likely borrowed from Latin. It appears in the Oxford English Dictionary, defined as “to cluster together, as stars in a constellation.”
